Have you got what it takes? Red Bull King of the Air

It's one of the biggest events in the kiteboarding calendar, bigger even than the world tour, and this year the organisers of the Red Bull King of the Air have opened up five wildcard entries for riders who have what it takes to compete with the legends.

Legends like Ruben Lenten, Aaron Hadlow, and Nick Jacobsen will join a total of 18 competitors, nine of which receive automatic entry from their results in last years event, and four who will be selected by the judges. It's a good fleet size to complete an event in a single day, as is the case with the event which utilizes the now well-known event window to secure the best possible conditions for big air. That window runs from the 27th January to 11th of February.

For the sixth year running, Red Bull is taking the King of the Air to Cape Town's Big Bay. The perfect cross shore conditions for regular footers make it the worlds best natural amphitheatre, and riders love it because the wind always blows.

"Riders need to convince the judges that they have what it takes to compete amongst the world's best big air kiters. For this we need to see big, completed aerials. In short, Innovation, risk, power and variety equals reward." Explains Sporting director Sergio Cantagalli. To enter, all you need to do is drop a one minute video online at the Red Bull King of the Air website . They say it doesn't have to be an edited masterpiece (their words) and that entrants need only to show enough to prove their potential.

Think you have what it takes? Grab the camera or edit together some footage from last summer - you could find yourself at Big Bay, boosting megaloops with the worlds best this January!
