Travellers (Netflix)

Storyline:
Hundreds of years from now, the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. These Travelers assume the lives of seemingly random people, while secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future. These travelers are: FBI Special Agent Grant MacLaren, the team's leader; Marcy, a young, intellectually disabled woman in the care of her social worker, David; Trevor, a high school quarterback; Carly, a single mom in an abusive relationship; and Philip, a heroin-addicted college student. Armed only with their knowledge of history and an archive of social media profiles, the travelers discover that 21st century lives and relationships are as much a challenge as their high-stakes missions.

Sounds nerdy, but is very good. Rates 8.2 on IMDB. 3 seasons so far. Mrs and I up to about ep11 season 1 and enjoying it.

Russian Doll. Started watching without too many expectations but now we're binge watching. Colonys pretty good too.

Finished watching Russian Doll and it was brilliant.Very funny to start but got darker and more complex as it progressed . Had to go online to get help understanding the interwoven timelines but a really good show worth watching with some great acting.

Just watched a very cool Mexican movie called Roma. If anyone else out there remembers Wim Wenders movies, you'll love it.

Alfonso ...something-or-other/mexican name also did Children of Men, and Gravity.

A lot of people get bored with Roma and turn it off after 20 minutes, but that is just the film setting the initial pace and setting. Their loss, it's the best film I've seen in years. It'll stay with you for days.

The first act is all very real, mundane. It sets a pace, setting, and the characters. It only changes from there (and gets very dramatic). Oh, and it's entirely in black and white.

I can see why this might not hold the attention of an audience raised on comic book superheroes (****).

But Alfonso is a master of slowly, slowly raising the tension. Here's that single, 4 minute shot from Children of Men that is a quick example o how he does the same over an entire film like Roma, or even Gravity (has to be seen at movies in 3D).

I'm an hour into watching Roma and the only thing that's built up is the wind.

I am at about episode 4, but all the partying is starting to get to me. I feel like I need to empty the ashtray at the back of the TV after watching it.

Yeah 4 more episodes to go but it's still good viewing despite Netflix trying to show smoking as cool. I don't know why they do it but unfortunately seems to be part of their culture.

" The Lobster" on netflix, veeerrry strange, interestingly strange, you keep wanting to turn it off as its so weird but you cant as you want to see what happens. A different type of role played by John C Reilly than what you'd be use to him doing, i.e. Talladega Nights The Ballard of Ricky Bobby or Step Brothers,
Very dark and bazar.

Das Boot, sbs on demand is good. Eight episodes in the first season and they are filming a second season this year. Don't be put off by the crappy cgi of the waves around the U-boats.

Does it get better than the first episode? I heard it was good series but damn that first episode was just predictable stupidity and irritating.

If someone knows your credit card details then they can subscribe to Netflix, using any old email account.
If someone knows your credit card details they they can order and pay for lots of things.
We give our credit card details to complete strangers every day.

It's 2019 and we are still waiting for 402 to be implemented: httpstatusdogs.com/402-payment-required
