i have the Moses race foil and absolutely love it.still trying to gybe and tack and it's proving very challenging, just wondering what's people's experience with changing front wing to maybe something like say the 550 or 590 just to nail those turns faster..not wanting to go back to a beginner wing but rather looking for one in between!!has anyone one here changed to another wing and if so what size?

Having the same journey.
Am riding the moses 683 surf wing on a 91 mast and a skate foil board, So much easier to practice.
I have access to all the wings and this set up is best for that purpose. Contact me for a go.
If you want to have a session of practicing tacks especially go out a little overpowered and you will have more lift from your kite as opposed to your foil. Shorter lines and foil kite if your not on one are all easy ways to help tacks.
Gybes will come with comfort and more balls. I am almost there but its easier going slower on the big wing.
I do have a 590 wing if you like.

Hey man,so I got my hands on a 550 front wing and left everything else as the comet..so after 2 big days of riding a finally successfully got 5 gibes on the foil and bloody felt amazing.only on my right side as I'm still working on the left but yeah it rides really well lots of lift, get going good in super light wind all ready a really nice set up to ride, obviously slower that my race wing but I'm not worried about that as my goal is to gybe and tack confidently first.big thumbs up for the 550 front wing ??

Choices hey !! I went down the Zeeko Bullet with a carver wing and its potentially fast but can be ridden sort of slowly but jibing ?? Scary !!
Im interested in the big Moses wings - also had a look at the Axis surf wings ! My question is how are peeps going riding large wings on 70 cm masts and breeching ?? On the shorter mast it doesnt seen to take much to get the foil tip out of the water on a jibe ??? Does riding wide wings mean we should be using longer masts ?? So many questions around foiling .......

Hi Lambie.

I have the Moses 633 and other Moses wings which I sell and use as well as the Axis foils. I use the 633 with the 91cm mast but have tried the 71cm mast as well. The 71cm mast is easier when your learning, great in smooth or shallow water and waves and is easy to turn. But throw in some chop and you're always close to breaching especially at speed.

The 91cm mast on the 633 and any large surf wing when kiting is definitely the best choice as it's still easy to jibe as it can be foiled relatively slowly. Generally it's agreed that surf foils can make learning foiling and any turning manoeuvres easier because they can operate slower than freeride or race foils. However for some people learning on surf foils, they can pop up too quickly if they don't understand how much front foot pressure to apply.

Seeing as you're in Victoria, ask benmj from the post above for a try of the Moses 633 on a 91cm mast if you want a taste of a nice surf foil.

Have fun, Dave

As above I am learning the transitions on the 683. Initially with the 70 mast as the 90 was out on demo. I found it so hard on the smaller mast.
90 much much better. The 110 is amazing but you will loose a lot of agility for fast direction changes if that what your after.
