Has anyone flown Ozone Reos V3 (or later) with a cabrinha trimlite bar 2016 (or later)?

I share my Reo quiver with my wife's cabrinha quiver. I have two ozone bars but she only has one cabrinha bar. So in the odd occasion (both of us needing the cabrinhas) we can't ride together or have to tag team swapping the bar (ANNOYING) because the ozone bars are not compatible with the cabrinha (due to the inverted pig tail set up in the reos). I'm toying with the idea of buying a trimlite cabrinha bar and inverting the reos pigtails.

thoughts?
thanks!

Just buy or make a set of pigtails that will accommodate the cabrinah to ozone configuration. There are heaps available. 4 equal length pieces of 3mm dyneema (150-200mm) looped and knotted at the end are all you need.... they can be used in any configuration of larks heads and knots.

Thanks for describing in a nice way,

pigtails will work fine. Just keep in mind that the reo wants to fly off the second knot down on rear lines of ozone bar,so that will need to be accounted for in your set up

Thanks Adam.

so I've been told to ensure the length is the same (common sense), and to ensure the position of the 'V' (center lines) is similar.

I think the Vs are similar between cabrinha and ozone.

Really? I have found that to be true to the smaller sizes, 8 and 6 that I fly, but for the 10 and 12 I get more bar pressure and slight back stalling. I have found that in both in v4 and v5.

Any brand is ok. Fix my kite do a set of color coded universals that can be use in any configuration.

I'd say for arguments same, kite flying is always what feels right for YOU. Anything I ever state is just a guide and based on factory recommendations. I personally only ever fly my ozone on the second knot as recomened, however, I know alot of people who fine tune this. I'm not the best to ask in that case and never doubt what people find as we all fly differently.
As far as pigtails, I'd be chasing ones for the front that were 50mm longer then the rear.
And putting them on your reo, not the bar.
Quick guess, a set of fix my kite pigtails and any longer onesfrom your local shop and just popping some knots where needed would work

The second knot on (not all- some only have one knot) Ozone steering lines is what calibrates the entire set to equal length which is desired, and what should be used if that is the type presented. Advising to buy pigtails of unequal length is bogus and will likely cause confusion and or problems. The poster should simply attach the equal length reversing pigtails to whatever knots they are currently using, providing they are happy with the way it flys. Regular calibration is always advisable and probably a good idea once the new pigtails are attached.

Thanks mate

yes, I fly mine with the middle knot all the time. I'm planning on rigging the pigtails to match the same length.

That's the plan. Matching the lengths :)

thank you all!

I will update this thread after some experimentation :)

I use my Cabrinha bar with a multitude of kites. One of those being my 17m zephyr. Not the reo but an ozone kite.
It has been discussed many times before any 4 line bar with equal line lengths with any 4 line kite designed to take an equal 4 line bar.
Don't get hung up on brand. Just find the bar design and features you like.

Thanks bud.

Did you have to change the pigtails?

It is not that hard.
If the pigtails of the bar match those of the kite.... don't change them.
If they don't match....then go to the kite shop and buy matching ones.
Now if you are running several brands of kites on the same bar then you may have to change the pigtails on the kite instead of the bar. But no big deal just keep the lengths the same.

So...
I measured the original ozone pigtails as the back and front ones were different and replaced them with ones that had a similar difference (front ones 4-5cm larger than back ones). I used for the back one cabrinha pigtails, for the front ones Naish.

The bar I ended up getting was a 2018 Cabrinha trimlite 52cm and put 3m extensions. That gave me a 25m lines bar.

I've flown my 8m and 12m V3 Reos with the new set up and they both fly as awesome as with the original bar using the middle knot on the back pigtails :)

I may consider testing the kites without the extensions but that will be after I test my wife's 6m switchblade and 9m drifter with the extensions on.

thanks everyone for your help and advice!

So all good. Well done.
Just remember that adding extensions will make the kite turn slower, ie the longer the lines the slower the turning speed.
Extensions are usually added for light wind kiting.
