anyone flown a xr5 core 9 on ozone bar? Just wondering if the high Y on the core bar changes the flying characteristics compared to the low Y on the ozone bar?
cheers.
I've been flying my xr5 9m all season on a low v wainman bar . It probably gave it a touch more bottom end. It still flys the same but have noticed it's a bit twitchy when it gets up to its top end wind, 25knots plus . Get the 7.5 out in that anyway. Only thing I had to do was get a extra set of pigtails spliced onto the bridle to accommodate my bar. I hated the core bar the throw was way to big
Get a 60cm bar and attach a ring to the non flag line - simple stuff and improves turn speed And stability.

Of course it will. The canopy will flair out st the wing tips a little so you will need to depower a bit. You will get less range but it could be faster and give more direct power. That's what I've found riding low Ys on north kites anyway.
Try it, let us know.
High Y is usually used by designers to fix poor kite design. A kite that flairs too much at the bottom of the power stroke is often given a higher Y to alleviate the issue.
Some people say they like the feeling of a high Y, personally I don't see the draw card, you lose a significant amount of kite feedback and you can no longer self land your kite easily.
