Good service, good deals. It's a simple equation. It keeps people from buying overseas and hopefully they get a few sales from overseas instead.

I don't know anyone who buys gear online from overseas.. the exchange rates are so bad and with shipping and potential import tariffs on top its really not an attractive deal (plus no warranty). So the domestic dealers really do have the monopoly. I think the international distributors regulate prices like Apple do with iPhone (and other products) to ensure there is no one place which get significantly better deals than anywhere else, thus keeping the supply chain happy meaning everyone gets a slice of the pie.

Actually, I've bought kite gear from overseas numerous times, kites, boards, accessories, wetties, saved heaps of money and have had no delivery issues.

I had 2 kite related purchases from os earlier this year, Euro winter sales, a board at 50% less than best price here including delivery and 2 wetties including delivery for the price of one here, saved $900 in total, that saving facilitated my recent local purchases.

But when locals can match it, I'll buy and do most of the time.

As for warranty, never had a warranty claim for any kite gear in 12 years of kiting.
