Imagine seeing your steering line rip off a chunk of the kite, mid loop coming in hot from a decent boost !
Never seen one like this before, has anybody else? Thinking I better lay off the pies or something?
Well, I have been flying this brand and model for the last 6 years and this is only the 2nd blow out....
Sometimes all you hear is the bad news huh?
Just wondering if anybody's had something like this repaired before? Also, just posted it for a laugh cos it was a pretty funny moment, a shame to have to end the session tho, was getting some good heights on the woo

Hi Chris. I have seen this happen on a few kites in my time repairing.
Normally happens due to massive loading on that specific area - often when kite has had lines tangle or snap loading up that tip.
Repair is possible but requires leading edge opening at tip and rebuild and strengthening of this area - kite will fly as before if repaired properly.
Hit me up up if you want to send for repair/advice.

Kite and wing repairs
Thanks Ryan.
Waiting to hear back from company to see if they will replace.
Kite was pretty new, and had no rolls/tangles/ fu** ups since I owned it so must have been materials defect. So epic though I was cracking up, better work stories eh.
If no joy, will take to one of my local repairers, in NZ otherwise I'd get it to ya.
Chris
Yep, ozone bar. Looks like it was stronger than the kite this time!
Not ozone kite, but Im not here for brand bashing. Like I said, I just thought it was a funny "Oh s*#t" moment!
Iv seen this happen on 3 kites from 2 brands over past 7 years. Niether were this brand. It happends.
Nice. Just thought maybe it was a unique one! Got it fixed up for $170, looking good as new.
The repair guy said the previous owner had most likely had a kitemare with it and damaged the webbing that you find between the leading edge and the canopy.
Heard back from Switch, even though they wouldn't honour the guarantee (fair enough, it was a second hand kite, although pretty new) they still offered me a couple of hundred off my next purchase which I am pretty happy with, buy gear off them fairly regularly.
Took the repaired kite out and hucked some huuuge jumps with earlier this week, still flies a treat!
Damn I am loving these storms coming through Auckland at the moment, its been a great spring so far!
