Looking for a winter escape, I'm in Brisbane how far north do you need to go to get some wing over the next two months.
TIA

Mackay north, Alva has been a bit hit and miss this month, June is usually a bit weird with lots of south in the wind. Soon as the days get longer again it improves. July August can be good.

Adventure Sports in Noosa are doing a progression trip to Port Douglas beginning August. I had an awesome trip with them last year, give Fiona a call for prices.
Cooktown north. Kite surfari will be open soon and it's chalk and cheese different in wind strength to Port Douglas.
Yeah if you're gonna bother going north go all the way north, it'll be worth it for the extra time you get on the water. Port Douglas is garbage compared to cooktown, go to kite surfari.
Hey Horey could foil in this spot at Alva or ocean side of sandbank.
Or you know that song North to Alaska.

I've got to agree with this. I went from spending a few weeks at kitesurfari and then a few weeks in Port Douglas and it was like you were on a different planet for wind strength.
Kitesurfari was 6m to 9m weather for me and Port Douglas was 17m.

At $2,550 - $2,900 a week, what did a few weeks set you back?

Actually, that's a good point. It was probably only one week at KS and then a week and a half at Port Douglas. I have been up there twice so I am probably linking it all together.
I did the self-drive/self-cater option and it wasn't too bad, but I can't remember what I paid.
Also interested in a solo drive up to the top north QLD. Is there plenty of affodable-ish accomodation ? Cooktown the target town ?
