Gnaraloo's kinda epic, just as it is, thanks.

Windpower and solar are too unreliable over a year period, still need baseload power to fill in the gaps....Nuclear power stations are the best solution ....modern reliable and safe ..

Get stuffed!! Tasmania 100%+ renewable (carbon negative), South Australia 60% renewable will be 100% by 2030 no nuclear in sight. No excuses for WA not being 100% by 2030 especially with green hydrogen in the mix.

Not sure the implications for the Holy Grail spot up north would be good though...

I,m with Towradgi on this. Plus the power generated by the wind and solar will only power FMG sites and not the WA grid. Anyway this is a kitesurfing forum and I wouldlike to see that region free of ugly wind turbines.

Ah yawn Tasmamia is a nothingville , its got no industry , more money is spent on centrelink in Tassie than is received in personal income tax to federal govt. A 1970 Ford Fairlane car battery can power tasmania...South Australia is in permanent recession...Both states blood suck from N.S.W. G.S.T......N.S.W. should secede from the commonwealth instead of keeping dud states alive...Good luck you green states..and may your economy self sustain as well as your energy...Not meant to offend only quoting facts..

Twiggy is considering using hydrogen whats all this talk about wind and solar only? Or am i missing something here. ? And yeh i wouldnt use tassy or SA as pin up examples either lol.

Twiggy thinks hydrogen is the key to bridge that energy gap renewables cant. I think hes got a point to.

The Greens were responsible for Australia not using renewable as much as we should be, by shutting down the Franklin Dam.

You have to have some sacrifice for an improved system.

Get all the crims on exercycles hooked up to generators.

Australia would probably have enough excess to sell some off

Someone in fortescue outlined twiggys plans to me the other day. I also personally know the person over seeing the blue steel production in the pilbara and this person generally gets Sh1t done!! nothing stands still people and at least its being driven by australians, an aussie company not over seas interests for once.

i do share the concerns of the ugly wind turbines at gnarloo station though - 400 of them!! Id like to see those mitigated somewhat.

For those that don't like looking at wind turbines Australia is about to legislate offshore wind farms so you can have your cake and eat it

Looking at google sat view, it appears that Gnaraloo is a total barren wasteland. Dry as a nuns nasty and good for nothing but kitesurfing and maybe testing nuclear bombs. Nobody even lives there, so why not fill up the land with wind turbines? No different to spoiling the view (for nobody in particular) with an LNG plant or an iron ore hole in the ground or whatever else it is that people do over there in the central/north west of WA

I think the goats get upset looking at wind turbines the goats from Kwinana prefer to see chimneys and toxic smoke.

Waiting for the bird strike argument to get wheeled out anytime soon...

Farmers in victoria with windfarms on their farm get more rent from that than they do income from primary / hobby produce . And are very happy getting a bigger income for doing nothing .While the small towns folk are going nuts over the noise pollution.

I've never been to WA period. Seen it from 38,000 ft dozens of times though. So tell me what's there besides scrub & beaches?
