Everyone knows Brazil is the land of downwinders. If you've never experienced one, it is something that you must to do at least once in your life!
The first downwind trip taking place will be the WILD NORTH Kite Safari - From Barra Grande to Atins:
This route covers 200km of deserted beaches, lagoons, river mouths and terrific wave spots and crosses the coastline of two different states; Piau? and Maranh?o along the way. It takes in the biggest delta in the Americas - Delta de Parnaiba - and its incredible surrounding ecosystem which consists of a chain of islands surrounded by perfect flat water spots. The route culminates in Atins at the foot of the Len?ois Maranhenses National Park, a vast site of true natural beauty.

I did most of the coastline between Combuco to Jericuacaura (sp?) back in 2001. Had a pick up truck and a few sand buggies track us down wind along the way. Stopped for coconut drinks for refreshments during the day and stayed at little cabanas each night. Some awesome flat sessions on lagoons as well.
Awesome wind, ok waves (bit messy most of the time), beautiful (but quite dangerous) country.

Down winders in 2001 was to norm for me.
Those bloody 2 line kites had a habit of dragging me way down wind.
Was easier for the misses to follow me and pick me up 10 k's down the track than doing the walk of shame all of the time.
I'm seriously considering doing this next year. Maybe 10-14 days. I want wild and remote, with scenery to match.
