Especially your meth supply if you plan on basing yourself in Geraldton.

Oh dear. Really?

Is crime rife for tourists? Because we're the easy target?

Some handy info from chillout, thanks. Gives us some ideas.
We were thinking a few days in Perth, to acclimatise and get over the jetlag. Then work our way up the coast after we're no longer zombies.

Will we need wetsuits? A 2mm shorty? Or is it warm enough for shorts and a rashie?

Mate a fair bit of dramatisation in that post, I grew up near Liverpool and Manchester , crime here is nil in comparison , I've heard of ...

Sure, and I grew up in a war driven country, with snipers, shelling and cluster bombs. We never got a single scratch on our family car.

In Broome tho, over the Easter, 4 windows smashed with a brick on our 4x4 rental, city beach. The insurance not covering $1700 off my pocket. Shall I continue the stories I've heard from locals there? ;)

Dongara isn't broome why the f..k anyone would go there kiting anyhow

if someone stole a bucket it'd make front page news here

Hey mate, we have the perfect camp and kite VANS for your holiday!
Pick up in Exmouth and drop off in Perth. Easy!
Van, kitchen, water, bed, fridge, solar panel, awning, led lights, roof racks for your gear, snorkeling gear, cooking gear, all your linen...etc....
You cant drive on the beach, though as others have said all kiting hot spots are very easily accessible with a 2WD and you are fully set up for self sufficiency.
Can give you a good deal in feb for a long Hire.
cheers, Emma, www.exmouthcamperhire.com.au

I can vouch for Scott and Emma's campers Ningaloo excape Campers . First class gear and their service is awesome. They can also give you tips on where to go to get the most out of your stay. As avid kiters they understand kiting needs.

One more thing to think about north of Geraldton -- Dec-March is cyclone season, so you need to keep a constant eye on any developing systems. No need to be freaked out but the presence of a cyclone can throw a spanner into the wind conditions for kiting for a week or two at at a time. And heavy rains from a cyclone can mean that you might end up staying somewhere a bit longer than you planned til the roads are clear again. The shires have good road report data online but mobile coverage is patchy out this way, though the coastal areas are improving with a few dozen more towers going up this past year or two.

Nice plan you have! In advance I wish you all the best in your upcoming vacation. Here tranio.com/ you can read about accommodation in different areas for surfers.
