I have recently started to have safety issues with wing foilers who can't seem to see kiters that are already on waves. Not sure if the wing is blocking their view, too busy concentrating on their height above the water or just think they are something special (possibly all three). I realise that we all have a right to be out there but I foresee some serious accidents happening as their numbers grow. Have they started to run into each other? Anyone else having similar problems?

Hi..
Funny!i've had the opposite experience...interesting post though

I find them a lot less intrusive they are a lot lower don't bang about scarily like fast moving windsurfers.they seem to be unable to get themselves out of situations so quickly and efficiently..unless they are super brilliant but I've only seen a few of those..so I have a lot more respect and humility for them.i love it when I end up at a beach and there are ten foilers.this may change though when they are all brilliant
if you are referring to an experience in ningaloo recently the foiler was v upset with a perth kiter 'cramming in their two weeks'..as the kiter failed to see the foiler upwind..obviously the foiler had right of way as was upwind and was going first.perhaps 'not seen' because they are so tiny..to a kiter! But to be honest that would be a cr*p excuse(not seeing them)..it simply shouldn't happen
they seem a lot more independent on the water don't hold Hands..clog up or stay in packs..don't short tack and don't hog*!

anyway...following!interesting post thanks
in short I feel we as kiters have the ability to be a lot more aware and that is *our* responsibility....
..yes they can't see as much as us unless they have a window through the wing or it's a size that can be lifted etc..hence why we should see them!. and if they are upwind which should be soon much easier for all# of them(sharper tacks etc..)....it's their wave...or visa versa..
happy kiting !....Cheerio...

There are always ball bags in any sport......
I would treat the wingdingers like the poledancers.... mobile chicanes that you ride around.

As a general rule, wingdingers are fully out of control, can't see where they are going and hauling arse downwind on a hydrofoil.
I think they are great to ride with, so much more fun to see their carnage crashes than a bunch of conservative poo-stancing lawn-mowers.

You guys sounds like pole dancers in the early 2000s. I did a full season at Gnarloo around 2002. I was the only Kiter for 95% of the time. The poles were total *** on and off the water. No one would talk to me in camp until things turned punchy with the then Swiss champ. Ever seen a Euro fight??? Suffice to say that night everyone started talking to me and I'm definitely no Connor Mcgregor. I told them to **** off and headed to Margs where I was warned not to ride Main Break. On the water the poles tried to run me down. Super dangerous. Then threw my board and kite on the rocks when I came in.
So guys don't become those people. I still kite and I now wing. We can all exist without any tribal bull****. There are some blind spots when winging but everyone keeps their eyes open and follows some basic rules like not dropping in or short cutting through the lineup then we can all keep the vibes good.

PS I still like to wax the odd pole stroker's windscreen.

Safety issues and being a pain in the waves, coming from a kite surfer. Jesus Christ.

Hmmmmm, now what's that all about? Board mods don't normally take that shape.

I wonder if they realise they aren't damaging the expensive part of that setup.
