So there's a foiler packing down to swim in about 400m out at Quinns Rocks just now 3:49pm. Anybody wanna go pick him up?
Actually it looks like he's doing a self rescue. I reckon he'll make landfall in about 3 hours, probably somewhere near Two Rocks
Worst swim ide to do was from south passage in Lano with a leg cut open and Jono park jumping over me the whole way in :) **** that Quinn's is known for the sharks
Funny. That reminds me of an incident that happened at Pinaaroo a few years ago. Standing on Pinaaroo point with a mate we see a kiter who has fallen prey to the Pinaaroo triangle.
He's a fair way out and hes swimming in with an inflated kite. I say to my mate I'll run down there and help him. Mate says cool , I'll drive down and pick you up when you get back on to the beach.
After running down there to get in line with him I'm surprised to see a pair of dick heads sitting on the beach watching this poor c swim in against a wind that had turned on him.
Surprisingly, when i got into the water and started swimming out to him the pair got up off their bums and also started swimming out to help .
Some just need a prompt I guess.
A few years ago a kiter headed too far out to sea trying to follow a dying breeze. While packing down for the swim in he got separated from his kite.
A bystander called the police. A boat, chopper and the coast guard were dispatched to the rescue, coordinated by police on the beach watching through binos.
The man was swimming in from 2-3km out. The police chopper located him with a searchlight in the fading light. The police boat (small ship) rescued his kite.
The coast guard almost ran him over in their zeal to rescue him.
What they didn't know is the man was a long distance swimmer who had swum the English Channel. 2-3km was a leisurely training swim for him.
By the time the rescuers got it all sorted he was almost on the beach.
