Does anyone here use the same steamer for spearfishing as kiting?

As far as I can tell it's only the cammo that sets the spearing ones apart and I'd rather only buy one than two.

Yep, no issues with getting a few

I picked up one back in 2010/2011. Only put it in the bin last month.

Prodiminently used as a 'wind protector' rather than a wetsuit per say in winter while kitesurfing.

I would buy one again, however, you get get away without a streamer on the Sunshine Coast.

I ended up with an O'Neil actually from the local surf shop the other day. 4/3 (can't remember the model but nothing flash), so far really impressed actually. Super flexible and warm. See if it lasts now. Probably not.

You're correct, the lower end spearing suits (<$200 or so) are essentially the same as a lower end surf suit (with the addition of a loading pad on the chest). These will be fine for kiting.
Higher end spearing suits (which are almost always 2 piece - pants and jacket) are a fair bit different though. They are generally made out of open cell neoprene which is very sticky when dry and almost impossible to get into without wetting the suit or using lubricant (e.g. shampoo, sex lube). These suits are really warm and comfy once on, but would be a pain for kiting.

cauncy said., had an ion last 2 seasons but fell apart,

ION,. worst wetsuit I've owned. Literally fell to pieces.

Stick with a surf suit, they have been making them for 30+ years and have it down to an art. Can't go past a rip curl/ billabong for warmth, comfort and durability.

My current billabong cost me $150 and is two seasons old and still in really good condition.

You do relise the ION wetties are made in the same factory as 99% of the surf wetties on the market including billabong??

on a side note due to a scumbag stealing my 3/2 shorty am in the market for a new one. my last one was a Mystic and lasted well. Also brought an O'Niel 4/3 that is awsome and looking at their version too in a 2/2, any views on these?

Depends on the type of suit, I wear a 5.5mm two piece suit when spearfishing and at the same temperature wear a 3:2mm while kiting.

Sharkskin suits are really easy to put on and keep you warm as toast. You don;t feel any wind chill. I have a top and also a full wettie. Have had both for about 4 years now and are still in perfect condition.
