Been using Dakine over years but quality has dropped a bit.
6 sessions on an ion shorts and it's coming apart' my dakine vega used to last 2/3 ssasons'
I'm onto my 2nd pair of Dakine boardshorts - they are really good and have lasted long enough for me.
I tried the ION ones but they didn't fit me right.
I used Dakine fusion for years, good quality but was a bit bulky switched to the NP Gravity, excellent quality and lighter construction with the rotating hook - moves left and right for ease of toe side riding.

My first Fusion lasted three years, the last one looked three years old after a couple of months.
Got a Mystic Star hybrid that's now 5 years old, though I really only been using it the last 2, almost exclusively with the foil. Minimal wear...!
Dakine has the better velcro waist strap "Power Band" and generally fits better ... with the exception of the teeny tiny leg straps.
I replaced my da kine shorts after 5 or so years and i probably kite more than most
The old pair were small for their size, couldn't get my legs into a 34"
New ones are massively oversize like those shorts boxers wear that come half way up their torso and hang down past their knees.
Also fitting the jbar is a pain in the arse
After 9 years wearing both ion B2 and DaKine nitrous, the nitrous straps are in far better condition than the ion straps which are so frayed they may cause me to have to body drag in soon!
I use sliders and a fixed hook on both depending on wind strength.
I found the b2s more comfortable but the DaKine have lasted better.
Can't complain about 8+ years out of each harness though!
