Ive been to Winderabandi many times but only for camping etc. Since then Ive started to learn to Kite and still very much in my early stages. My partner however, is a gun Kiter.
The point at Winderabandi looks like an ideal spot. I always have my inflatable boat with me so a backup safety net so to speak.
Interested to hear others experiences with Kiting there.... yes I know the sealife etc and Im sure they'll be those that will harp on that....
Cheers

Hi
Well i just tack out to all that reefline..was an interesting shelfline there dropping to twenty metres like a massive gap then went up to the reefline ridge..
I found the 'butter flat' bit (north) a bit dodgy for learners or non awesome tackers..as if you can't get back up the end of the spit is the only safe spot.. Then a long walk with the birds. Otherwise seriously its kms to land across alot of sea and a completely stupid unnecessary mission to be picked up etc Maybe your gf can do it but i wouldnt recommend it for you or maybe you can too
... To be honest not too impressed with the spot.. Hard to reach and know heaps of better ones... Lots of chop and the 'butter flat' part is dodgy.. Goodluck. Funny! Had an inflatable rib too. Bestofluck

I like going out there with a snorkle and a mask and an anchor or dive weight and if its not too reefy and low tide.. letting my kite drift at 3 o`clock bobbing about and board attached to the chicken loop and anchor line hooked (via leash).. around the chicken loop... Then i go for a nice snorkle.. (discovered that technique going around looking for a gopro 2km out)....; definitely plan to do that at winderbandi at that drop off ridge it's massive! stretches a few hundred metres! I wonder how many sharks lurk down there thanx for reminding me of one of novembers missions!!
