Soon all the wing-dingers are going to write in ... wing ding... ?????????????????
translation: I love being a wing-dinger
From what I understand kite repairers really like wing dings. There's lots of foils mowing right through crashed wingdings.

First day I say one back home ... he went out, I went out, he came in cos he'd stuck the foil through the wing. I kept riding for another 2 hours
"Bloody hell I only just bought it"
Listen to you guys in your bitchy little kite bubble. Lol.
Pretty sure I've mentioned that I got one in 2008 ... so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about

Who does that remind me of ?. Mmmmm.... Mmmmm...... Could it be... wave sailors ?
I wondered I went where the mighty Eppo had gone.
Hey bro hope all is well.
The sport where the professionals look goofier than the learners. Wingdingers doing back loops n stuff look like someone having an epileptic fit on a poggo stick.

I must admit, this looks pretty fkn sweet. Kai Lenny makes everything look easy.
Reminds me of this:
The vid that drove him to come up with that was a bit scary. Way way out alone in offshore wind in mauritius. 1.5hrs ish to relaunch and fly tangled kite back in. Really shouldn't be in that situation without an EPIRB or backup boat I guess.

I think there are many similar videos by same or similar Russian dudes getting themselves into trouble in that location, then "miracoulously" self rescuing.
Last one I saw pretending to be getting smashed by whitewater, dropping kite, reeling it back in, untangling lines waiting 30 minutes to relaunch and riding tangled lines back in. Of course there was someone on the beach waiting to land his kite.
Another where he and a mate tangle kites, same or similar location, spend 30 minites untangling themselves, miracoulously nothing damaged or lost.
Not sure if Pete is impressed, but hey youtube is probably paying back a little for his expensive trip.

This video is from before he had that incident. I gather its a bit of an epic spot to kite from people who have been there. I personally want to know what batteries he's running on his go pro as mine certainly doesn't last the length of time it took to get back in. Useful info though.
I posted it a year or so back on the local facebook forum and it turns out loads of peopler were doing goofy stuff like this 20 years ago. A couple of the guys dug out photos of C kites running 6m lines.

Wing nuts went through a phase a few months back insisting they'd reinvented the wheel... "OMG I invented a new sport! Winging on a skateboard! This is the best invention ever!"
... reminds me of the guys putting fixed bridle kites on a broom handle and skateboarding on that. Last century.
I wondered I went where the mighty Eppo had gone.

Yeah man,
More mountain biking that kiting these days. The older I get the better I was. I'm getting a bit rusty on the kite now. I've regressed back a bit through lack of kiting. its a struggle just to hold the skill level of when I kited multiple days per week.
Nice. I got into moutain biking as well but then did a silly thing. Rode an e bike a few times!! But i cant really justify the cost of one and yet dont want to ride without one lol.
As you can imagine from above im all
about prone foiling and wing foil wave riding now. Good fun!
good to hear you are well bud.
Whats not cool about this?
Like all things dinging, it's cool.. unless you can kite, in which case it's like kiting but lame. Imagine exact same footage, same waves same board same wind but he has a kite. That riding and those jumps would be like .... yawn... 2003 calling.
Whats not cool about this?
Do you reckon he gets a ski tow initially and then starts using his wing once up to speed or on wave?
Winging just doesn't seem that feasible unless on foil.
not sure if that makes this disingenuous, or just creatively using another toy, but can't argue with it looking pretty cool from the go pro view, and Kai being a freak and amazing water man
edit: I don't wing, but will try one day, so if my question is silly I apologise

Yes, Kai is getting slung in with a ski. Still, that dude is the REAL deal. There is no skill left unturned in his bag of tricks.
