Hey guys,

I'm moving to sydney from perth... Yes i know us kiters normally go the other way, man i sure am going to miss the doc . Anyways i'm into wakestyle riding and just like everyone else... that flat water. I also have access to a tinny for those "secret" spots that no one ever seems to talk about... Any chance any of you locals would be willing to share your secret spots without referring me to the WAKSA website or take me along?
Also what are the rules on kiting at Carter island? It looks like a nice offshore spot for the seabreaze but the site says its a no kiting area. Anyways looking forward to getting amongst it with you all. And if you don't mind having a tag along for trips, i'd be keen to get involved.

Cheers,

Dave

Dave,

Send me a message when you get over here and I'll take you to some spots. Don't really like to put them all out there in the open for obvious reason. We also have some features built and we are growing a little wakestyle community over here. Look forward to meeting you!

Welcome to Sydney, Dave. Not as flat and windy as WA but there are definitely some good spots out there to be found. Especially if you go up or down the coast a bit for a weekend road trip. Will be lots of trips going on for summer I'm sure. Where about do you live? Easiest way to find people to ride and do road trips with is just to talk to people at one of the regular spots, like first car park (Brighton le sands), Dolls point and Kurnell. People are generally super friendly and there's a really nice kite community around. However, people are quite fuzzed about guys jumping close to shore and crashing their kites on the beach, but as long as you keep some distance you'll be fine. The tide affects the bay a lot, so watch the tide times before heading out if you want to get that sweet flat water.

Mate, the one thing it is though is it's quiet. The pond got out of hand just before I left, and there and Woodies are the only real flat water spots to ride in Perth. There's just something uncool about noobs riding in offshore winds that gets me all worked up. I'm in Arncliffe so been smashing Dolls and another not so "secret" spot. I've been keen to head up to Swansea channel and also down to Wollongong to ride at Windang. I normally try to get tucked in the top near the groin at dolls for unhooking. Its actually not a bad flat water spot on a low tide, but can be busy with noobs. In terms of a semi decent kite spot within 10 mins of driving it beats living in Perth for sure, you normally had to drive around 45 mins to get to a decent spot if you lived in the city. The blokes at kiteppower are all pretty decent and fun to knock around with, and all the locals are pretty friendly as well.

Cheers,

Dave
