Hi there.

My boyfriend and I are travelling over from the UK over Christmas and New Year. We are staying in Jervis Bay for a week in Vincentia.

We understand it works on trade winds but were wondering what size kites would be the best option on twin tips.

we are looking to bring 4 kites over but are not sure whether to bring big kites or small kites. What sizes do you fly and what's the average wind strength for that time of year?

Thanks.

I'd say 15-25kts.

During our summer we usually have 4 days kiteable each week.
Say for 80kg rider, would mainly ride a 12 on a twintip.
So 8-10-12 would have you guys covered for most all winds!

That keen for summer!

Really dependent on your:

-weight
-board size
-skill level
-waves or flat water

clarify some of those, then we could firm up the kite sizes for you.

But I agree with what sufingboye has written.

You'll have a great time. Plenty of wind in Jervis Bay that time of year. North east sea breezes and the odd southerly to cool things down. 8m to 12m kites should suffice.

Sounding good! Thanks for the replies so far

The main reason we ask is because we don't know if the air density is more or less than here. Usually my boyfriend will ride his 9m bandit between 16-24 knots but the wind may be heavier in the UK as it's frontal systems.

Extra info is :
Both between 65kg - 67kg
Twin tips are about 135 x 41
Both intermediate riders learning tricks hooked and unhooked.

Not too worried about whether it's flat or in waves but tips on different spots would be really useful if you guys have any please. Read a little bit about Collingwood beach on a kite spot guide page and picked up on a post from years ago to avoid some areas because of bait fish/sharks

Our quivers are 7m/9m/12m Airush Diamonds or 7m/9m/11m Bandit 5.

We are looking forward to a summer too, as it forgot to arrive in the UK!!
