Hey guys,

I am looking for my first kites and need your help really bad. I can ride around quite good und also jump decently so I am not actually a beginner anymore. However, in August I am going to travel to Western Australia for a year where I really want to improve my skills. I am not sure about my favored riding style yet which makes the choice hard. I want to learn some basic freestyle moves (frontroll, backroll, raley,...) and also try wavekiting. I also can only afford two kites at the moment. Therefore, I need versatile kites with a big windrange. Is a combination of 8 and 11qm fine for WA`s conditions at 65kg (145lbs)? I might buy a third kite later when I know more about my riding style.
I could get a good deal on the following models:

F-One Bandit X
Naish Dash or Pivot (2017)
Slingshot RPM (2017)
Gaastra Pure (2017)

I know that some of those kites are entirely different. What would you recommend? Especially I am interested in the Pure because it is really cheap and I found very little information about it on the internet.

I hope you can help me because I am really confused
Thank you very much!

Greetings from Germany

10m Bandit. Use for freestyle up to 25 knots or so.

6m pure. Use for freestyle when the wind is 25 knots plus. And use for riding surfboard from 18 knots - 30.

I weigh just a little more than you Rooon and I've got 2 kites, both 8 metres. Because if it's not the right wind for an 8metre you may as well just go sightseeing.
You could buy an 8 before you come then decide on a second kite and buy it when you get here, there's plenty for sale.

A kite with a good bottom end and a great top end helps cutting quivers however this style of kite generally covers limited uses (example rebel edge core xr ) etc, choosing a multi use kite was on my list this season, I chose the ozone enduro, simple 2 second change , 3 settings wave, freeride, freestyle, I was a bit sceptical when I looked at it but it's pretty crazy how differently the kite performs, has a great top end and decent bottom end also, I also looked at core gts, fone bandit, north evo also, mate likes his new drifter on free ride , best to demo a 7/8 10 combo for WA weight dependant

oh sorry to see the Germans knocked out of the World Cup so early

I?m not a huge soccer fan so it is not that big of a deal as for most of my friends here

Thank you for your advise so far! I checked out all the German onlineshops and read a couple more reviews. I guess the battle is now between the Naish Dash and the GA Pure. Dash would be more expensive. I assume that it would be easier to sell the Dash in Australia at it`s value, though. What do you think?
The final question would be whether I should get a 7-10- or 8-11-combo for the WA conditions. Would 8-11 be better considering that those kites have a worse low-end than a pivot for example? Or would you recommend 7-10 for a lighter rider like me? Please take into account that I might expand my range in Australia and buy a third kite. However, when I check my bank account, that?s not sure yet.

Depends where in WA
perth has decent winds as a rule, the Midwest has without a doubt the strongest sea breezes , if your looking at resale I'd say good luck on Naish kites up here , even more so on the gastra, I'd hit up kit addiction near Perth as they're agents for both and generally have ex demo/ second hand, might also buy them back after your trip

The decision has been made. I will be getting a Naish Dash. Thanks a lot for your advise. I am still wondering whether I should get an 8 and 11 or rather a 7 and 10. I don`t plan to buy a bigger kite, but maybe a little one later. Will I be missing out a lot of sessions without an 11 since the Dash has probably not the best low-end, or is an 8 to big for those windy days? In other words: Are there more windy days to use a 7 or more not so windy days to use a 11? I will be kiting in the area around Perth and weigh about 65kg.

You be fine with a 7&10 . I weigh 85kg and barely ever use a kite bigger than a 9

Yeah but you're in WA - Windiest Australia. Up here, a 12 would be the minimum

I came to WA in 2011 on a kiting holiday with a 8/11 quiver, it worked fine but the 11m was probably used 5 or 6 times the first season, and now after 7 years living in WA it is still in good shape. The 8 was well worn after the first season.

Next kites were 7/9.

Enjoy WA
