So I saw,a guy the other day on a new Cabrhina Switch Blade get into trouble n used his quick release, but it all went pear shaped n he couldn't relaunch after a kitemare tangle.. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or is it just a overdrive/ powerball issue?
Luckily he got a passing boat to pick him up before he got in some serious old school trouble with a brand new kite. I thought that only happened in 2001-2004 with old kites that were deadly?
Prob need more info,
If the lines tanglled after release then I would not say it was a gear failure. It's not always easy to reconnect after releasing the safety especially if the bridles get tangled around the kite. I rarely reconnect successfully after releasing, and just end up floating back to the beach and sorting it out there. I used to find the IDS was always easier to reconnect.
The 2012-14 bars were a pain to re-connect after releasing the safety, and I doubt it would have anything to do with fireball or overdrive (althought you can easily catch your lines on those little overdrive release tags).

As far as safety systems go the 1X system is great I think except if your PU tube gets jammed with sand which doesn't sound like the case here.
I think you'll find its a challenge to relaunch any kite after activating the safety system when things get tangled up.
