Hello!

I'll spend a couple of weeks in northern Queensland (Cairns) this summer. (mid to end of july)
Mostly family, tourism, snorkeling/diving but I see it's one of the worlds best area 4 kitesurfing
So I've checked the wind statistics on windfinder and from what I can see it's pretty windy in
july / august (www.windfinder.com/windstatistics/arlington_reef)

However, statistics are one thing and reality another.

I'm around 67kg. I'll bring a 134x41 TT board but I'm unsure about what kite size.
I would only like to bring one kite to keep luggage reasonably light.
I've a 12m / 9m - foil kites (roughly equivalent to 15-11m / 11m - 8m tubes).

What winds to expect in the area, in the morning, afternoon?
Where do the locals kite around this time of the year?
What kite size do the locals use (TT)?

Spots that I've found via windfinder: Holloways beach, Yorkeys knob, Palm Cove.
Are there always kiters on these spots (if the wind is right of course)

cheers

Local kite shop in Noosa is hosting a trip to Yorkeys Knob from 21st to 28th July, I haven't been before but apparently previous trips at this time of year have been awesome. I'm taking my 9 & 12m LEI kites with similar size boards at 62kg.

When I was up there a few years ago, there was better wind in Port Douglas compared to Cairns. Is that normal, or just that couple of weeks?

Thanks for all the info, sounds fantastic :)
I'm coming all the way from Sweden. First time in Australia / Cairns so I/we'll have a lot of things to do discover.
Due to the good kitesurf conditions, I'm hoping for a session or two ;)
