This topic may encourage some marinas to improve

Bundaberg and Rosslyn Bay are two where the lack of and poor customer service are only outweighed by their cost in my experiences.

Dalbora Nelsons Bay. Bloody expensive and not appealing.

That is a surprise as I have had very good service from both Rosslyn Bay and Bundaberg (Burnett Heads) . Rosslyn Bay even have a free courtesy car and Bundaberg was one of the cheapest up the coast. I believe Bundaberg has been taken over since we were there 18 months ago so maybe the service has dropped off.

Let's rephrase the title. Marinas? I would rather avoid!
The only good thing about a marina is not having to have an anchor watch, being able to step off the boat onto dry land and a good shower. Otherwise they are like living in a tenement block, the lights are always on, it's noisy and there are signs everywhere telling you what to do.

I find both bunderberg port and Roslyn bay marinas are good with clean amenities and happy and help full staff

Coffs Harbour.

Poorest maintain marina on the east coast. I only use it if I'm caught by the weather.

Soldiers Point Marina at Port Stephens. Looks like a really well organised marina, but super expensive. I was quoted $700 a month for a mooring. That's insane.

What sort of boat do you have and what length is it?

We found Rosslyn Bay Marina to be very good in July 2017 when we brought Serenite to Sydney from Airlie. Staff were helpful, showers were clean, courtesy car was available. I found Able Point to be good too for the three months the boat was there. Certainly looked after us after cyclone Debbie went through.

+1. Coffs is easily the worst.
Bundaberg is now up with the best. Rosslyn Bay is good except you run aground in a pen.

Agreed. That place is the pits. I anchored outside then came in for fuel. You mean Burnett heads marina? . I didn't mind it. Guy was really rude. It's also another northerly exposed place up there.

Just had my outboard stolen from RMYC Pittwater. Could consider that one but probably not their fault.

Bummer! If you were on their marina, I would be reporting it to the club and asking if they have any security cameras you can review.

Gee salty , you'd expect a prestiges turn out like the RMYC would have a reasonably tight security system ?

Was on a mooring for 1 night to attend a dinner nearby. No cameras for Moorings. Someone came onto her and shifted fenders too.

Hamilton Island is the easy winner. $17 to pick up crew and nearly $100 a day for a 11 m mono. And it is almost impossible to dingy in because of the airport mooring restriction. And if you do dinghy in they charge you for the tie up.

In mY view people should avoid these places. They can have fun charging no one. I doubt this even happens in Monaco.

Charging to tie up a dingy is pretty tight !

Talking about bad experiences with Marina, is it normal to be charged an extra day if you leave after the " check out hour 10am" ? It is the first time I use a Marina and it just happened ... I am quite pissed off

Airlee Beach? I had to stay there once and they did start to hassle me about 15 minutes before their cut off time.

Marinas are like motels especially in peak times in The Whitsundays. You can usually ask for a late check out and they will give it to you if they have not got a boat due in to that birth, but you need to ask prior to check out time and not just stay as this is what pisses them off. A lot of people including myself want to come in as early as possible so we can do our shopping and have any repairs done eg. I usually book my motor in for a service. At the cost of marinas you don't want to stay any more nights than need be. The last thing you need is to be sitting outside the marina waiting for some inconsiderate person over staying their time in your birth.
