Icon is also getting a screetcher light weight headsail on a harken endless furler. Hopefully I will be able to sail more when the wind is under 12 knots.

It's a sister ship to mine. It's a mast head mine is 7/8 fractional, I'm thinking clew just aft off the mast. One sail maker is saying he will charge me 15 min drive and return call out to measure up for the quote I thought that's a bit rough.

Intresting aspect. I always quote jobs for free. When it's in a local marina that I know. I do charge travel rates for some jobs that require 40 min country drives. Have you ever been charged by a real Estate agent to drive and let you through and try sell you the product? This is new to me getting charged for a quote.

I did on my previous yacht, I haven't ordered this one yet, the first photos are just a example on what I'm looking for.

I'm with you there shaggy, the measurements should get you in for a quote, I'm sure SA could supply the relevant info. I've never charged to quote a job of any sort, it's a bit like asking to get paid to go to job interview. I worked for a builder whom paid us to go through plans and figure how many doors , meters of floor,studs in a wall, cubes in a pour, bla bla, and I'm sure he didn't get paid to put a tender in.

on nearly all sails, you only need two measurements to work out a price!
obviously a lot more to design and manufacture.

the Code zero versus Gennaker debate for cruising.
I ended up heading toward the latter, with the thought that 90-130 degrees was more useful than heading too much higher, yes it would be nice to have one of each, but the Gennaker is actually able to head up higher than 90 in light stuff, and if I want more out of it downwind, I either drop the main, or I guess I could pole it out like a traditional Spinnaker.
i went the cheaper way with a snuffer, which works pretty well solo. You just need to know when to pack it in, before the wind gets scary!

It's a Adams 40 extended to 42 I belive it's simular hulll lines to the blue water 42 that they where trying to promote the Adams hull further after he hang up the plans.

Cheers yes I think I might get a shock on price! Maybe over 5k . Cheaper to use the Perkins 60hp in light wind!
Seems Selden don't make a retractable bow pole for the code 0 for a 10 ton yacht, I guess that's because the code 0 can be used for up wind sailing and the tack and head would be under such loads, the gennaker/asymmetrical could be possible unless I can come up with another idea! Dam it's hard work looking into all this stuff .

Yes bravo said he might come down Monday for measure up. Haven't heard since. I think I need to get a attachment point sorted first anyways.
I think you may be fine with an assy rather than a Code 0. I have both but as the boat is a multi she works better with a Code 0 as she has a smaller headsail and I built a prodder with chainplates to handle the high luff loading.
A Code 0 on a prodder must have a line to take the upwards forces - like an old fashioned waterstay for a bowsprit. You need a new high tech bowsprit with waterstay. That may take some serious coin to fashion up, although you could use it for anchoring too. You could build the thing yourself in composite for less than a thousand but it will take some time. I think it would be impossible to just buy a prodder. It will have to custom fitted to account for the foredeck fittings and bow roller.
As monos don't sail the higher angles that multis do, I would recommend the assy rather than the Code 0.
