I picked up a new Carbon paddle from Adrian at Axis when i was at Merimbula Classic a couple of weeks ago & he asked me if I'd ever tried Paddle Grip Wax from the crew at Element Expedition out of Santa Cruz...
I told him no & that I always either used the EVA paddle grips from Jimmy Lewis or the Hexa-Traction ones from RSPro...Adrian then handed me his paddle & I couldn't believe how grippy it was without seeing any visible grip or wax on it... Next minute he pulled out a twist tube of wax & started applying it to the shaft of my new carbon paddle & then the handle... it was so grippy but without the blobs of surf wax I'd seen & used on paddles in the past... It didn't smear or pick up the sand or grass when you laid it down... I've now used my new paddle about a dozen times & haven't reapplied any more Paddle Grip Wax (not that I have any yet to reapply) & it's still nice & tacky to use...
It's Anti-Sweat, not messy, won't flake or migrate (spread) down the paddle shaft...
Linkage between the body and water sport apparatus is a critical component of performance and safety. Water significantly lowers the coefficient of friction between the skin and smooth contact areas on paddles and surf decks. In paddle sports, control of the paddle is often lost as the muscles fatigue and grip pressure decreases. In SURF and SUP, wax has long been used to improve feet-to-deck linkage. Element Expeditions Grip Wax displaces water between the skin and contact area and significantly increases adhesion to the apparatus. Water displacement and increased friction coefficient permits lower grip pressure to combat fatigue and reduces paddle rotation and longitudinal hand displacement on the shaft. By improving grip and reducing fatigue Element Expeditions Wax formulas improve linkage with the apparatus, increasing both performance and safety. AvailableIt's now going to be available in both the "SUP Paddle Grip" & "Tropical Paddle Grip" formula's in the next week or so from & comes in a "No Mess Twist Tube"-

Hey JR,
I tried to order from the website but it would only show customer pickup? No issue with this unless pickup is in Brissy and I am in Wollongong!!

What are our options here?? Any distributors down this way yet?

Hey everyone.
Recently had my shaft waxed and love it.
Definatley enhanced my performance.
Its un-nerving when you constantly loose your grip.
I recomend this for anyone that suffers from a slippery shaft.

Thanks GlennC, but there's not one mention of you actually using the NEW Paddle Grip Wax on your paddle that you let me apply :)

Hi

This wax is amazing! 3-4 degrees air temp and 8 degrees water temp using the cold water product. Two hours of surfing this morning. What was great was when paddling and surfing I could use a light grip and generate more power. From other paddling sports I know that too tight a grip will decrease the efficiency of my stroke. Also I get up from a kneeling position using the "Creek" technique and the great grip on the paddle really helps. Good applicator design. Well worth the wait and expense.

I agree. I've only paddled a couple of times with the wax on [Grandpa duties at the beach, plus no surf!] and it's great. Can get a bit soft after a long paddle so you just need to fall off and get the grip wet....and I fall off regularly! Great product JL!

Thanks for the feedback CaptainJimbo & FRP, it is a great product & everyone who has used it loves it... you usually get up to a dozen surfs per application so one tube will last for ages & it doesn't melt or go off when left in the car... Great stuff :)

Wonder if it would work on a windsurfer boom. The Eva grip is shot. So could remove all of the grip and try this stuff out. Would it melt off in the sun. It gets pretty hot when boom is on top of the car.

Hi Grassie,
it certainly doesn't melt like normal surf wax in the sun but I'm sure if left sitting in the hot Qld sun for too long it would...There is the "Tropical blend" that is harder
