Very smooth riding, awesome!
wind foiling down wind, flagging the sail one handed is the best feeling.. Great job

One of the things I have been trying to figure out is why I can glide much further on swell when flagged out windfoiling versus flagged out on wing. Windfoiling I rarely need to pump the foil when flagged versus winging. My initial thinking was that the flagged out sail is giving some power to the board versus the wing which is only causing drag, but recently I was thinking about center of gravity on a slow moving foil.
An under powered foil needs more back foot pressure to fly. Agreed? Anyways where we stand on windfoil factors in mastfoot pressure but when you flag the sail you loose this mast foot pressure effectively moving the COG of body and sail rearwards. Which could explain why I can glide on swell much further when flagged out on windfoil versus when on wing, because the reduced lift due to lower speed is not overpowered by COG. Whereas on wing I am standing in a manner that controls foil lift when powered up, but when I flag as I slow down the lift starts to move rearward and my center of gravity overpowers it. Resulting in the need to pump foil. I guess if i get back on wing I will try stepping back when flagging the wing to test this theory.
Plausible?
PS: winging is much better for swell riding than windfoil and it is much closer to surfing

While I agree wing foiling on swell is much closer to surfing, I think wind foiling on swell is more akin to windsurf wave riding where you use the sail to help carve.
^^^ Dependent on what's meant by swell riding?
Proper surfing waves, probably agree with your statement.
Windswells (of any size) I disagree. Haven't seen any local wingers (of similar abilities) carve swells as hard or downwind as fast as our local windfoil crew
Not sure why surfing is the aim, windfoiling and winging are windsports and arguably superior to surfing in the right conditions.
Nice speed Roland vs the windsurfer. Freeride foil vs freeride windsurfing I feel like we are getting closer in speed each year
You guys know i was taking the piss right?
Too Funny, you did get a reaction
When "floating" with the sail flagged (which i don't do much because I prefer the power carving feeling) I have also wondered why I seem to require less additional power (wingers pumping vs sail turned on power) than a winger with a similar foil. I just attributed to the sail is still catching a bit of wind or me just imagining things; so its interesting you noticed the same thing.
Oh for the record I agree with John340; all good fun just depends what you prefer. And as long as you are having fun you are doing the right thing!!

Hell yes! I guess I get a tad pissed when there are probably only about 50 windfoilers in the world with the skills and gear to rip swells, so how anyone else could know how it compares to winging I don't know. Much easier to just agree with them though. Kind of like trying to tell a kiter 20 years ago that windsurfing was better.
I love riding windswell with the sail flagged out. Here just 15-20 wind "swell".
I think its just because of a little bit power in the sails when flagged, keeps moving you on the wave just a bit faster and longer than wingfoilers.

Wing has more drag maybe, versus sail, in any orientation including flagged out.

Its amazing how long you can glide down the line right? I cant seem to get the same effect with wing.

Sic mate! Your glance at the camera was priceless! You were like, LOOK I am PUMPINGING! I checked out your other youtube videos, your are ripper!
You pump with the sail when it's in flag mode (with your rear hand on the front of the boom).
Wingers pump the board
Windfoilers pump the sail
It's evolving
A wing is still a kite butt without strings
12:00 its neutral (over your head)
9:00 or 3:00 it's full power (In front of you or backside backwinded )
