Pity about the cold and lack of company...Any one game to give it a go? I wonder how flat it would be with that wind strength in that direction ..

I did sail a NW on one of the days I was there and it was good from that direction. I sailed in the same lines as on a SE, but on the opposite tack! It is possible that it could be more Gusty on a NW, but it was OK the day I was there in 20-30 knots. It came through in waves though, around 20 knots for a while and then a prolonged squall around 30 knots etc. Anything with a bit more West in it comes off the ocean so it should be a lot more even, and that was what we experienced. Still had squalls, but the difference was not so much. SW is off the ocean too and colder but it comes in over the land between the ocean and the lake, so one has to stay out further in the lake for the even wind. That was not a problem in the Kev's bay area, launching from the spit. The weed there was very thick though as the SW wind blows the water out into the big lake. A sightly higher water level would probably be better to counter this.

With the weed and water at a good level, it is fine for NW, W and SW around the SE. Too cold for me now though. I am getting soft, and anyway, I prefer the snow this time of the year.

Hey Daffy, we last sailed it 4th of May (that's winter isn't it?)
I'd be keen to sail during winter, just need Jimbob to check the water level at Packers point.

Jimbob sent me a photo. Looks like the water level is up a bit, (which should be good for the conditions for next summer - and over winter for that matter).

Level as of the 14th August. Many thanks to Jimbob!
According to JB, there is more runoff to come in. I think this is very good news for the health of the lake for the coming summer!

The track to Packin Point is now wet!

I'm starting to think about it, especially if it looks like good water conditions.

Hi Fellas it's a 5 day drive each way. I'd so love to go again but would want at least 2 weeks on the water.
if I get a divorce I'll tag along too
Stretchy you'll need a smaller boars (90litres)

FYI - I think that Daffy and some others were planning to be over here around the start of summer looking at a trip north. That would be a much more time effective trip and as we know, some killer wind comes over summer.
Id like to do the shark bay flat water areas, shell beach and others.

I think my best window would be From the 19th January so as to include Australia Day and yes to sharing driving so as to get there as soon as possible.

Yeh I'll be there as my two days off Will hang out at the spit. Not gunna be the best as a bit of west in it.
Mayde I'll have the warny boys for company.
Water level still really high and water still in front lake and over Packers road in but should clear road in a couple weeks. Won't be able to drive to cockys this summer ?? Outlet to the sea was never opened this year and we keep getting half to an inch of rain every week. Looks like a inch of rain with this forecast too. Like my paddocks are still green with feed.
25 SE now and the last few days.
Some weed beds of the spit and in front of uncle kevs in the middle lake where getting close too good a couple weeks ago but still a couple feet under water.
