Discount closes for sea and sand festival tomorrow you can still register later but. When you register it gives you options for complete days if doing Saturday and Sunday all events it's $120 don't look at individual event prices and get scared. It's simple to register and use PayPal.

please don't wait because there will be no guarantee of getting any accommodation at the last minuet.
This is just a magical spot and a fun weekend away so please come and join us for a fun family friendly weekend away. All interstate and overseas people more than welcome.

Really ??? wrong thread fun family friendly.

When myself Murray and James started the GPS/Slalom up again in NSW we allowed from day one as many types of easily accessible GPS devices to be used.
We wanted people to use what they had and enjoy sailing with other likeminded individuals.
This has not changed see below from current sailing instructions.

2.3 GPS Devices
The following devices are suitable for use in the events
GT11, GT31, GW52, GW60 Android GPSLogit which export an SBN file- Canmore, Garmin watches etc which can export a FIT file- Garmin Foretrex, other watches which export a GPX file - Motion

Friendly reminder only three weeks to go before the see and sand festival kicks off this years slalom and GPS serries.
Also please book your accommodation for Myall as they will not hold onto the camp sites and remaining cabins for much longer.
Just ring them and pay deposit for now at least.
cheers

Hi guys. How is the GPS series scoring going to be done for the sand and sea festival? Is it just the one free race on Saturday that counts?

going to be a great weekend down there, can't wait.

It looks like there are 6 possible events

Saturday
1.Speed Challenge Saturday 12:20
2. 1x 30m GPS Freerace (sailor choice)
3. Jervis Bay Downwinder Saturday 15:15

Sunday
4. Dash across the Bay Sunday 11:00 (reaching each way)
5. Sunday , 2x 30m GPS Freerace (sailor choice)

Personally I would like to see all 6 events included in the series scoring, but that is a decision for the committee.

Where do the GPS Freerace events appear on the Sand and Sea events program, there's Course Racing but no GPS?

All events at the sea and sand festival will be included as long as the wind reaches the wind limit of 12 knots as per the sailing instructions.
so potentially you could have a situation where you race in say 10 knots you're still competing in the event but the score will not count towards NSW series's, this was the only fair way to do it.
note this year also every race that meets the wind minimum will count towards the overall point score. There will not be individual event scores but a total of all races including drops. This was asked to be done from sailors and as a committee believe it's a good idea.
we will not be doing coarse racing but GPS we have been organising the racing platform with them.
cheers

Byron etc

What are the rules re foils... I've a nice fancy 91cm foil board and 1000mm wing which might work well in 10-12 knots.
Alas my Slalom is only 75cm wide 121L so not ideal for light winds... nor for a 1000 wing!

As far as I'm aware there are not any restrictions on foiling board size, Berowne.

Good to hear! I found the rules finally...
gpswindsurfing.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Notice_Of_Series.pdf

85cm for slalom boards and 105cm for foiling.

As the anticipation builds and people start watching the forecast multiple times per day we thought it was a good time to clarify the event schedule and format for the Sand and Sea festival from a NSW Slalom / GPS series perspective. (Note: Course racing not part of NSW Slalom Series)

Current long range forecasts are predicting wind and a fair bit of it at times, but unfortunately not the favoured / desirable North Easterly we had all dreamed of, So racing in likely to be all focused around Huskisson / Vincentia area with winds from NW - SE expected over the weekend.

Given the offshore conditions safety will be paramount and the organisers have assured us that there will be adequately serviced by multiple rescue boats patrolling the course areas during our event times.It's an ambitious format but is sure to be very rewarding if everything lines up;

Thanks kids great organisation / info.

That westerly downwinder could be interesting. Very gusty in those conditions. Can be anywhere from 10 knots to 40knots this time of year and totally offshore....

With a great strong forecast for Saturday it's not too late to escape Sydney or the Gong to be part of this great event this Saturday & Sunday, Current entries for the Slalom/GPS exceed 25 and when combined with the longboard's it is sure to be quite the spectacle with over 50 sailboards taking part.

You can still enter on the day

Hi All

Please post gps files on KA72 by 5:00pm Monday 28/10/2019 for your result to be considered.

The 2:15pm to 2:45pm session is the only result being recorded towards the Series from this event.

Thank you to those who have already posted, it helps get the results out quicker.

The 2nd GPS half hour on Sunday was perfect Husky nor easter. Beautiful runs down the swell, 7.7m heaven. Brilliant decision to allow sailing across the whole bay.
