Hi all
I am looking for a new sail around the 4.5m mark but trying to avoid buying a new 370 mast. I only need this kind of rig a few days a year so I'd prefer something to fit a 400 if possible. My mast is Severne. I could get a 4.7m Blade on this mast but if anyone has suggestions of other brands with a smaller sizing to fit this rig I'd be grateful.
I just bought a new 4.7 KA Killer after destroying my (very old) one that uses a 400cm mast - last years model - through their online site.
Great sail, great price and delivered to my door by Neil who has the WA stock. If you decide to contact KA online you will be dealing with Peter in The Netherlands who may give you an even better price than you will find on the online store....
Most smaller sizes should have adjustable head to accommodate.
I know i use my 2016 KA Killer 4.2 on a Chinook 400 rdm and it only protrudes 10cm or so
for only a few days a year, why buy new?
a secondhand mast and sail together = less than just the mast (or sail) new
I mean, not trying to pimp my sh!t but if you don't mind NP I will sell a 4.2, 4.5 and 370 mast for $500
There will be that sorta thing possible in Severne too, I see SailRepair WA in Oconner advertising approx 2014-5 Blade 4.5 for $200.......
Severne dropped adjustable heads on 4.0 and 4.2 Blades in 2018. 4.5 and 4.7 Blades are mast "cross-over" sails even if not advertised as such. The 4.7 specs a 400 mast, but can be rigged on a 370 with a long extension (what I do). The 4.5 specs a 370 mast, but I think can be rigged on a 400 (403 luff).
AFAIK, all Ezzy sails have adjustable heads.

agreed, my 4.5 has a luff of 400 but specifies a 370 +30cm extn. Have not tried it but can't see it would fail on a 400.
What's your weight? Sometimes it helps a small sail become more responsive when using a longer mast. If you are light weight then it might become a bit stiff.
