Next time you are kiting alongside power lines, you'll be more careful after watching this video of a bloke in the Philippines land his kite across two of them.

Tropical islands are great for many things, kiteboarding being one of them; but they also share a few common traits that are not so great when it comes to flying a piece of nylon on the end of four spectra lines.

The Philippines are one of these islands; where the beach at high tide is around a meter wide, backing onto a solid wall of palm trees which backs onto a set of powerlines. Not only is launching a small nightmare, but the potential for something to go wrong is high. Add an enthusiastic beginner into the mix, with slightly too much wind, and you can imagine what's about to happen.

Watch as this beginner dodges the beach, the palm trees, the huge sticks on the beach and the construction site... Then kites right into a set of powerlines, blowing a huge hole into his kite and probably interrupting the power supply to a small village.
