May have forgotten to dry out a kite the day after I packed it up in the rain, it now has a bit of a musty smell, is there some way of getting rid of it without damaging the fabric, thanks.

Pump it up, fly it and dunk it in salt water and then let dry in the sun. The salt will clean the mould AFAIK

I agree with Sandfoot, I'd do the same thing.

Thanks, I don't think I have crashed it since I noticed the smell, will do that next time I'm at the beach

I would dunk it first in salt water, then fly it to dry.

No please. You will delaminate the valves, unless it's a foil kite and even then either remove the bridles (ouch) or tape them up into a single pile to avoid super tangling the lot and destroying your kite...
Actually.... this is sarcasm right!?!?
NO DO NOT PUT IT IN A WASHING MACHINE.

I have washed my kites this way since 2012. never had an issue with all 980 kites.

I never pack up my kites, any packing method just puts little creases and pressure on the fabric warping and distressing it. This makes the kite have more drag when airborn and ruins your power speed lift and glide ratio. The best way ive found to keep my kites completely crinkle free is ive made a series of molds kind of like houseing that have the same form as each of my kites and i just drape the kites gently over them. The top race guys have been doing this for decades i have little cut outs in the molds so that its easy to just retune and trim the lines before every flight. I then transport the entire kite houseing carefully to the beach with a bimny over it so the uv doesnt degrade the material during transport
